= = = = = = = Secret Scrappy Stitch Along = = = = = = =
Are you ready to get started? If you missed the stitch along
details you can catch up on them
here. Steps one and two require
a larger fabric amount than the later steps that are really scrappy.
The fabric quantities I am giving are for the colors I used.
Be sure to let your creativity guide your fabric selections.
For the first step you will need the following quantities of fabric.
1/8 yard green print
1/4 yard tan print
1/4 yard dark brown print
Small scraps of blue and cream prints
= = = = = = = Center Medallion Cutting = = = = = = =
From green print, cut: 2 squares, 2-3/4" x 2-3/4"
From light print, cut: 2 squares, 2-3/4" x 2-3/4"
From blue print, cut: 2 squares, 3-1/2" x 3-1/2" cut diagonally once
= = = = = = = Making the Block = = = = = = =
1. Using 2-3/4" green and light print squares make half-square-triangles
using the technique outlined
here. Trim triangles to 2-1/4" square.
2. Make One Broken Dish block. Layout half-square-triangles in two rows.
Sew the units in each row together. Join the rows to make a Broken Dish
block that measures, 4" square, including seam allowances.
3. Add blue triangles to each side of the Broken Dish block,
to make a Center Medallion block that measures, 5-1/2"
square, including seam allowances.

From dark brown print, cut: 24 squares, 2-1/4" x 2-1/4"
From tan print, cut: 24 squares, 2-1/4" x 2-1/4"
= = = = = = = Making the Block = = = = = = =1. Using the same technique outlined above, make 48
half-square-triangles, trim to 1-3/4" square.
2. Make 12 Broken Dish blocks that measure,
3" square, including seam allowances.
= = = = = = = Assemble Center Medallion = = = = = = =Using the photo and diagram layout and piece the Center Medallion.
Cut the following borders and add to Center Medallion.
From green print, cut:
2 strips, 1-3/4" x 10-1/2"
2 strips, 1-3/4" x 13"
Center Medallion should measure 13" square, including seam allowance.
